Byron Bay Bluesfest East Coast Blues & Roots Festival

byron_bay_blues_festival_2012

What? Australia’s largest international festival of blues and roots music, the East Coast Blues Festival began in 1990 at the Arts Factory in Byron Bay, New South Wales. It quickly became known as "Byron Bay Bluesfest" and "The Byron Bay Festival" and is now known as "Bluesfest".

At a time when the Maleny Folk Festival (later to be known as the Woodford folk Festival) was only just beginning and festivals such as Big Day Out and Womadelaide did not exist, the Bluesfest pioneered the presentation of blues music in Australia.Over 20 international and 30 Australian acts appear annually.

2012 will be the 23rd time that the festival has hung up it's shingle and the line-up is looking as awesome as ever with The Pogues, Roger Daltry (left), Earth Wind & Fire, John Butler Trio, My Morning Jacket on the bill to name but a few.

When it pours with rain as it did last year have wooden pallets with ply tips ready to throw down even as islands to save the relentless mud, even in the tents.Keep most out of the mud and elevate those at the back so they can see.Otherwise I have been
every year for the past 6 years and will keep coming.Great artists.

Comment - Been to the festival? Thinking of going? Share your thoughts. What did you enjoy? What were the positives? Disappointed - then dish the dirt! Give us the goss! Dirty toilets long line? Fell in love? Great value or rip off? Looking for someone you met? Tell it how it is. No naughty words.

Rubbish Excellent
