Presented by BlackBerry, the sixth annual Sydney Canadian Film Festival, Possible Worlds, will run from Monday 8th to Sunday 14th August, at Dendy Opera Quays.
Taking place over one huge week, Sydneysiders can expect an exciting collection of film premieres, Q&A sessions, parties, a photo exhibition, and the opportunity to meet some high profile guest filmmakers from Canada.
This year’s Festival is set to include 20 new Canadian . Dates, detailsfeature films and documentaries, many of which will screen in Australia for the very first time. Each film will be vying for the prestigious Audience Award for Best Film, chosen by viewers.
Festivalgoers will be treated to many Australian premieres of the best new Canadian films including; JALOUX, TRIGGER and THE BANG BANG CLUB (trailer below).
Festival artistic director Matt Ravier says: “Offering a fresh perspective on the world and a welcome alternative to the Hollywood formula, Canadian films are perhaps world cinema’s best kept secret. If you love film, come have a drink with us next August, meet a filmmaker, take a chance on something different, fall in love with Canadian cinema: it’s a secret we’re passionate about sharing.”
