Festival of Dangerous Ideas
The third Festival of Dangerous Ideas presents a program that traverses terrain including: the Arab Spring, psychopaths, torture, the media and their morals (or lack thereof), and a swag of undiscussed or contentious issues that challenge mainstream thought and opinion. Whether the subject is death, eating animals, ecstasy or hypocrisy about democracy, FODI aims to bring i
mportant questions to light as a catalyst for sharp and vibrant discussion.
As well as international speakers, our very own controversialists take us to local hotspots with barbarian footballers, sluts, Australian complacency and gays in (or out) of the classroom all taking centre stage.
Speakers are briefed to take their ideas just beyond the limits of comfort and convention and to bring the audience with them . The mark of the Festival’s success will be that you join in; with gusto, with passion, with respect and of course with humour. Enjoy our Festival guests in vaudeville mode with the Very Dangerous Variety Hour closing the Festival on Sunday night.
