Hundreds of people travel to Canberra to take part in the festival, put on by the Earthly Delights Historic Dance Academy.
The festival exhibit all things Jane Austen; from the fashions, the food, the music, and the spoken language of the time, to bonnet, embroidery and dance workshops, and discussions and readings from her books.
When? 2012 . From Friday the 13-15 April the Jane Austen Festival runs from 9am-late.
Jane Austen Festival Australia 2012 will commence with a welcome get-together on Thursday 12 April 2012, followed by an evening of food & entertainment on Friday 13 April and the Jane Austen Festival Ball on Saturday 14 April.
This is a season ticketed event and patrons will enjoy a range of regency delicacies and wonderful entertainment.
During the day participants can choose from a range of workshops and activities and enjoy the fun and excitement of the regency/napoleonic world.
In the evening participants are invited to theatrical and musical events as well as everybody's favourite, The Jane Austen Festival Ball.
